QMT SF6-free medium-voltage switchgear

Medium-voltage unit with vacuum circuit breaker, front view Air insulation, no SF6 Vacuum circuit breaker Compartments accessible from the front 750 mm wide

Air-insulated secondary distribution up to 24 kV, in two families: modular or monobloc. No fluorinated gas over the life cycle of the plant, in line with EU Regulation 2024/573. The switchgear enters CEP substations already installed, wired and tested.

1 point is CO2.
Everything else is SF6.

Sulphur hexafluoride, SF6, is the gas that for decades has insulated live parts inside medium-voltage switchgear. It insulates well and allows compact switchgear. It has, however, a global warming potential about 24,000 times that of CO2, which is why EU Regulation 2024/573 is phasing it out of medium-voltage equipment.

Air-insulated switchgear contains no SF6. In day-to-day operation this means no pressures to monitor, no refills, no greenhouse gas to track and to dispose of as special waste at end of life.

F-gas Regulation

A plant without SF6 will not need upgrading when the European restrictions on fluorinated gases come fully into force.

Each dot is worth as much as CO2. SF6 is worth about 24,000 of them.

Integrated in the substation

  1. Selection

The MV switchgear is a selected component of the substation, like the transformer.

  2. Integration

Installed and wired in the plant, inside the CEP substation.

  3. Testing

Tested together with the transformer and the LV switchboard.

  4. On site

The substation arrives ready for commissioning.

Low-voltage switchboards LV switchboards designed, manufactured and tested by CEP. Up to 6300 A and 120 kA for 1 s, compliant with CEI EN 61439-1, -2 and -3, for MV/LV substations, residential and industrial installations, photovoltaic, wind and energy storage systems. Go to LV switchboards
