Product Quality: Technical Standards and company standards

CEP Srl, a company that stands out in the design and construction of electrical substations and electromechanical components for the distribution of electrical energy, manufactures each product by scrupulously following the requirements set out in the relevant Technical Standards and the company standards established and documented in its own Procedures and Work Instructions.

For the Cep Component strategic area:

  • Medium-Voltage Switchgear is built in compliance with CEI EN 62271-200;
  • Low-Voltage Switchgear is built in compliance with CEI EN 61439-2.

For the Cep Energy strategic area:

  • In C.A.V. electrical substations, the prefabricated concrete monoblock is designed and calculated for Ministerial filing under the NTC 2018 regulations, while the MV/LV electrical system is built in compliance with CEI EN 62271-202.

In order to declare a given product’s Compliance with the Technical Standards, CEP has integrated into its production process and into its manufacturing and inspection plan the so-called “individual tests”, envisaged and specified within the relevant Technical Standard of each product. These are intended to ensure compliance with the construction specifications during series production, adopted for the manufacture of the first unit subjected to type tests at the authorized laboratory. Specifically, the type tests involve operation under limit rated conditions with a subsequent fault simulation, in order to also verify compliance with safety requirements.

The inspections and individual tests on the series production of CEP products are divided into:

  • Acceptance inspections: carried out on raw materials, semi-finished products, outsourced products and products received for subcontract work;
  • In-process inspections: they accompany the product construction stages and include the individual tests specified in the product Technical Standards and the quality checks standardized by CEP;
  • Final testing: carried out on the finished product, it ensures functionality and compliance with the product Technical Standards and with the specific customizations requested by the Customer.

Among the envisaged and implemented individual tests are, for example, insulation tests of the main circuit, insulation tests of the auxiliary and control circuit, and measurement of the resistance of the main circuit. Among the quality checks, the tightening torques applied according to the relevant international reference standards and the component manufacturers’ instructions allow us to reassure the Customer regarding the electrical connections made by means of screws and bolts. Finally, during final testing the circuits are powered and electrically tested to verify their correct operation and compliance with the project wiring diagram.

Therefore, compliance with the product Technical Standards, adherence to the company’s quality standards, together with meeting the Customer’s customization requirements, constitute for CEP the overall Quality of the product.
